National Public Relations Agency seeks public relations professional in Washington, DC. Minimum 5 - 7 years experience a MUST. A real plus is knowledge of the legal industry and issues, financial services, healthcare/biotech, business, risk and compliance areas. The agency’s clients are law firms of all sizes, small and mid-size companies, healthcare/biotechs, risk and compliance firms, and higher education, with a regular stream of one-off projects for former and new clients. We are also often called on to manage crisis communications.

Qualified candidate will have strong relationships with the reporters and a track record of top tier media placement. This is a position that engages directly on a daily basis with clients and the press. Ability to develop and maintain personal relationships and exercise good judgment in making decisions that impact clients' business is necessary. Need to be able to juggle and change directions rapidly in a fast paced and changing environment. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently, maintain constant communication with clients and media and manage complex work flow.

We expect this person to display the highest degree of professionalism consistent with a corporate environment and to make daily judgment calls, related to tone and content of all communications, both internal and external, in keeping with what is appropriate at the highest levels of business.

You would be required to bring your ‘A’ game every day in order to meet the high expectations of this position.

Focus: client contact, pitching and placement, idea generation and development

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing pitches on varied topics by directly interfacing with clients and understanding clients business and issues
  • Aggressively pursuing media opportunities, establishing and maintaining reporter relationships
  • Drafting media materials including pitches, messages, releases, survey submissions and nominations
  • Heavy contact with reporters
  • Interfacing with the client on a daily basis
  • Landing quality and quantity placement expected
  • Following the news closely in your areas of responsibility and responding quickly to breaking news to obtain media placements
  • Being an independent worker and displaying sound judgment and professionalism
