Business Development & Marketing Manager

Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard LLP, a boutique New York and Beverly Hills law firm focusing on entertainmentdigital media and intellectual property is seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager for our firm. We are looking for a solution-oriented individual with experience in management within a lean operations structure. Ideal candidates will have experience in the entertainment field either in a PR or Marketing role (Lifestyle or Event preferred) and have worked in law firm environments. We encourage solution- and detail-oriented, independent thinkers who can work with minimal instruction to apply.

Primary Duties

  • Work hand in hand with the firm’s marketing committee on developing and implementing strategies for marketing the firm and its lawyers
  • Work with attorneys on individual business development efforts 
  • Maintain media relations for the firm; Manage external relationships
  • Strategize, coordinate, and track the firm’s involvement in conferences and events in the firm’s primary practice areas; Develop speaking and branding opportunities
  • Assist with new attorney integration and announcements, including bios, news/press releases and related marketing materials
  • Coordinate and help develop associate publication schedule
  • Manage the firm’s website and social media presence
  • Coordinate and run the firm’s marketing committee meetings
  • Partner with Controller & Finance committee to track annual marketing budget
  • Partner with Manager of HR & Office Operations on internal & external firm events and use of administrative resources

Required Experience

  • 4 years of relevant marketing experience
  • Entertainment industry experience
  • Law firm experience (either in-house or as direct client)
  • Management experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and other electronic databases
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • High-level emotional maturity and integrity
  • Able to responsibly manage firm and client information and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate comfortably, courteously and effectively with clients, attorneys, employees, and outside parties
